Who we are

Go to Art School is grounded in lived experience of art education and active engagement with the contemporary art world. We work with a limited number of emerging artists each year, supporting applications to leading art schools in the UK and USA such as The Slade (UCL), The Ruskin School of Art (University of Oxford) and Central St. Martins (UAL).

Our approach is both strategic and curatorial. Rather than encouraging students toward a single, conventional pathway, we help them identify the course and institution that genuinely suits the direction of their thinking and making - whether that lies within fine art, art history, interdisciplinary practice, foundation study or another terrain.

portfolio school 2026 - 2027

We work with students who are ambitious, thoughtful and ready to engage seriously with their own development. Our role is not simply to secure admission but to position each artist for sustained growth within the field beyond university.

  • At the core of the programme is weekly 1–1 tuition. Each student is paired with a personal tutor who supports their individual direction, challenges their thinking and guides the development of a rigorous, distinctive portfolio. These sessions are tailored to the demands of competitive art school applications and interview preparation.

  • Students are supported in producing new work while refining existing pieces into a cohesive, compelling portfolio. We focus on developing a strong visual and conceptual narrative, alongside practical guidance on documentation, editing and selecting work for specific institutions.

  • We introduce key historical and theoretical references to strengthen written applications, helping students situate their work within a broader context. Through workshops and discussion, students develop both academic and creative writing skills, resulting in thoughtful, articulate personal statements and essays.

  • Regular group critiques create a space for dialogue, reflection and critical engagement. Students learn how to present their work with clarity and confidence, while gaining valuable feedback from peers working towards similar goals.

  • Students take part in mock interviews designed to mirror the art school interview experience. These sessions are led by individuals who have successfully navigated the application process, offering insight, reassurance and constructive feedback.

  • We invite artists and industry professionals to share their practices and career journeys. These sessions offer students the opportunity to ask questions, gain insight into different creative paths and expand their understanding of the field.

  • Students are matched with a creative professional or organisation for a minimum of 10 hours of online work experience, offering exposure to real world practices and insight into creative industries.

  • Upon completion of the programme and work experience, students may request a personalised written reference to support their applications.

I’m excited to meet like-minded peers who have work for me to curate (at CSM)... I’m excited to be able to develop my art practice alongside my curation practice.
